Mackadown Day Care Services Ltd is a day service providing day care to adults who have a learning disability and complex health care needs such as Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy. Most of our clients are wheelchair users and a degree of physical fitness will be required due to the nature of the role.
The successful candidate will be provided with the necessary training for this role upon starting; however minibus driving experience is essential and CPC qualification would be advantageous.
For insurance purposes, the candidate must have a valid UK license with a D1 category on their driving license.
An enhanced DBS check will be undertaken for the successful candidate.
The role involves transporting our clients to and from the Day Centre and accompanying them on outside activities. There is also some additional responsibility for other minibuses i.e. refuelling and bus washes.
Drivers who have the ability to safely park the vehicle at their home address, are also able to take the vehicle home with them should they so wish.
Hours of work will be 730am until 930am and 3pm to 5pm, totalling 20 hrs per week. Overtime is paid for additional work undertaken .
This is a permanent role.
The Driver will be accompanied on their designated run with a Minibus Guide, ensuring the health and safety of our clients.
The successful candidate will be a representative of Mackadown Day Care Services Ltd and as they will have regular contact with Parents/Carers, they must be well presented and have a polite and courteous manner.
Drivers are responsible for
- the cleanliness of the minibus in line with infection control guidance
- performing weekly vehicle maintenance and equipment checks
- reporting any defects to Management
- clamping in wheelchairs
- loading and unloading of clients using the tail lift
