If so, this is a great opportunity to join Harborough District Children and Young People’s Charity (HCYC) as a Bus Driver - helping to deliver youth outreach sessions across the district.
HOURS OF WORK: Various as needed, but usually Mondays & Thursdays 2.45 – 5.45pm and Wednesdays 10.45am-2.15pm OR 2.30pm-6pm, term time only. Plus, termly supervision/training sessions and ad hoc drives for bus maintenance/repairs.

Why this role matters:
The Chill Out Bus provides a mobile base for delivering youth work sessions rural and isolated locations. While you won’t be delivering activities yourself, your role is essential to the safe and smooth running of every session. You’ll transport the bus to scheduled locations, ensure it’s set up properly, and remain with the vehicle while youth workers engage with children and young people.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll be reliable, calm under pressure, and happy to work independently as well as part of a team. If you’re a confident driver with a positive, respectful attitude toward young people and community members, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A full, clean B category driving licence (required)
- Experience of driving larger vehicles
- Good self-management and ability to work on your own initiative
- The ability to carry out vehicle safety checks and follow organisational procedures
Additional skills that would be beneficial (but not essential):
- Driver CPC qualification
- Experience working in youth or community settings
- First Aid or Safeguarding training
This role is subject to satisfactory references and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The successful candidate will be required to meet our safeguarding requirements before starting work.
Key responsibilities:
- Safely drive and park the Chill Out Bus (7.5 tonne vehicle) at outreach session locations
- Complete required safety and operational checks before and after journeys
- Follow all health and safety and safeguarding procedures
- Ensure the vehicle is ready for use and support session setup
- Complete documentation and logs related to bus use
