Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients.
- Cook and prepare meals according to specified recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces.
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
- Support the team during busy service periods, ensuring timely meal delivery.
- Help with stock control, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately.
- Serve meals to customers or clients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or contamination within the kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- Qualification in professional catering is preferred (minimum of Level 2)
- A valid Basic Food Hygiene certificate is held
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Knowledge of IDDSI guidelines
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Friendly, reliable, and able to work well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including weekends if necessary.
