Finance Manager
Location: Hillington, Glasgow
Salary: £37,000 - £39,000 DOE
Job type: Full-time, permanent
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day finance function across our Harley-Davidson and Triumph motorcycle dealerships in Glasgow.
This is a hands-on role covering the full finance cycle, from transactional oversight and balance-sheet control through to management accounts. You will be supported by two part-time members of the finance team and will work closely with the dealership management and directors whilst reporting to the Financial Controller.
The role would suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of the numbers, investigating issues and making sure the underlying accounts are accurate—not simply producing reports at month-end.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts for dealerships within agreed deadlines
- Maintaining accurate balance-sheet reconciliations and control accounts
- Managing the month-end process, including accruals, prepayments and journal entries
- Overseeing purchase and sales ledgers, bank reconciliations and daily finance processes
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Reviewing vehicle, parts and workshop stock balances
- Reconciling manufacturer and vehicle funding accounts
- Producing financial information for dealership management, directors, accountants and the bank
- Supporting year-end accounts and responding to external accountant queries
- Maintaining appropriate financial controls and improving processes where required
- Supporting and developing the existing finance team
- Assisting with FCA reporting and other relevant compliance requirements
About you
You will need to have solid practical accounting experience and be comfortable managing a varied workload in a busy owner-managed business.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience producing management accounts from start to finish
- Has strong balance-sheet reconciliation and financial-control skills
- Can identify errors, investigate discrepancies and follow them through to resolution
- Is organised and able to work to firm monthly deadlines
- Is confident communicating financial information to non-finance managers
- Is comfortable working independently while also supporting a small team
- Has strong Excel skills
- Takes a practical and commercially aware approach to finance
An accounting qualification would be beneficial or QBE.
Previous experience within the motor trade would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
