Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in need, ensuring their comfort and well-being in various settings, including live-in care and supported living. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to manage behaviours effectively while fostering a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Administer first aid when necessary and assist with medication management as directed.
- Engage in behaviour management techniques to support clients with challenging behaviours.
- Facilitate transportation for clients as needed, including driving them to appointments or social activities.
- Perform heavy lifting when required, ensuring the safety of both the client and yourself.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in behaviour or health to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop tailored care plans that meet individual needs.
Experience
- Previous experience in home care, hospice care, childcare, or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in patient care with a focus on compassion and empathy.
- Knowledge of first aid practices is essential; relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Experience in behaviour management techniques will be beneficial for supporting clients effectively.
- A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential for facilitating client transportation needs.
