We are looking for an experienced, proactive Workshop Manager to take the reins, keep the workshop running smoothly, and drive the business forward.
The Role
As our Workshop Manager, you will be the engine room of the business. You’ll oversee day-to-day workshop operations, manage a team of talented technicians, and serve as the main bridge between our team and our customers.
If you are an experienced Workshop Controller, Service Manager, or Senior Technician looking for full operational responsibility in a busy independent environment, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Care: Working with the office manager to create a customer focused experience, welcoming customers, taking bookings, advising on work needed, and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Work Allocation: Delegate work effectively to technicians based on skill levels, job priority, and efficiency.
- Authorisations & Quoting: Produce accurate job quotes, communicate directly with customers to explain necessary repairs, and secure authorisation before work begins.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate our technician team to ensure high standards, productivity, and health & safety compliance.
- Quality & Efficiency: Monitor job progress throughout the day to ensure vehicles are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Overall Business Management: Oversee parts ordering, job scheduling, workshop flow, and daily administrative tasks to maintain smooth operations and profitability.
What We’re Looking F or
- Experience: Proven track record in a Workshop Manager, Workshop Controller, Service Advisor, or Assistant Manager role within an automotive repair environment (independent garage experience is a strong bonus).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and standard workshop procedures.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with customers and clearly communicate repair details.
- Leadership: Strong team-management skills with a firm but supportive approach to keeping technicians productive and happy.
- Organisation: Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and handle the pace of a busy workshop.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence is essential.
