Job Summary
As Maintenance Support at Earlscliffe, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the College's buildings, grounds, and facilities. Working as part of the Maintenance team, you will undertake a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, support improvement projects, and help maintain a high-quality environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your contribution will be essential in ensuring the College remains safe, compliant, and well-presented at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance of buildings, grounds, plant, and equipment.
- Complete minor repairs promptly to minimise disruption to operations.
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and delivery of maintenance and improvement projects.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, diagnose faults, and implement effective temporary or permanent repairs.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of maintenance materials, tools, and equipment, coordinating procurement as required.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety legislation, company policies, and statutory regulations.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective action where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, repairs, and asset information.
- Prepare maintenance reports and provide updates on completed work, outstanding issues, and planned activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to support the efficient operation of the facility.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities role, ideally within a similar environment.
- Good working knowledge of building systems, plant, equipment, and general maintenance practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and practical approach.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications, certifications, or vocational training in a maintenance discipline (e.g. electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or building services) are desirable.
- A sound understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
Working Conditions
- Occasional evening, weekend, or out-of-hours working may be required to respond to emergencies or support planned maintenance activities.
- The role involves physical work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, and undertaking manual handling tasks.
- Work may be carried out both indoors and outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
Pay: £25,000.00 per year
