Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Sustainability Director for Thriving Communities, the Social & Economic Impact Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering initiatives that generate meaningful social and economic impact across our portfolio and communities.
This role will help drive a coherent, enterprise-wide approach to social and economic impact, identifying opportunities to create positive systemic change while supporting The Crown Estate's wider sustainability ambitions.
Context of opportunity / Main accountabilities:
Supporting the delivery and evolution of The Crown Estate's social and economic impact strategy in collaboration with business units, place-based teams and senior stakeholders.
Identifying and developing opportunities that drive long-term social and economic change beyond business-as-usual activity.
Building partnerships and scaling innovative approaches that address community challenges and create measurable impact.
Leading programmes, budgets, reporting and planning activities related to social and economic impact initiatives.
Developing and improving approaches to measuring impact, ensuring outcomes can be tracked effectively at local, regional and national levels.
Providing expert advice and guidance across the business on social and economic impact matters.
Monitoring policy developments and emerging best practice, translating insights into recommendations for the organisation.
Collaborating with sustainability colleagues to integrate social value alongside climate and nature ambitions.
Preparing materials and recommendations for senior leaders and supporting key internal and external stakeholder engagement.
Acting as a champion for continuous improvement, capability building and knowledge sharing across teams.
Most important skills based requirements:
Strong experience delivering social impact, economic impact or community-focused programmes, ideally within complex organisations or place-based environments.
Deep understanding of social impact practices, policy developments and the interconnected nature of social, economic and sustainability outcomes.
Proven ability to influence, engage and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and external partners.
Experience managing programmes, budgets and external consultancy support to achieve strategic objectives.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex challenges, evaluate options and make clear, evidence-based recommendations.
Knowledge of impact measurement frameworks and approaches, including experience tracking long-term social outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, identify risks and deliver results in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Collaborative mindset with a commitment to fostering inclusive partnerships, supporting colleagues and sharing expertise.
Understanding of wider sustainability, ESG and social value agendas, with the ability to connect these themes to organisational strategy and decision-making.
