Job Overview
The Quality Supervisor maintains day-to-day quality assurance activity across the site and supports the implementation and upkeep of the company's established Quality Management System (QMS), helping the business operate in line with BRCGS Food Safety standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures across production and warehouse operations.
Working closely with the Operations Director and the site's appointed food safety consultant, the role covers floor-level quality checks and internal audits, desk-based QMS administration, and guiding the QA Technician's day-to-day work — split between the production floor and office. This balance helps embed a strong quality and hygiene culture across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System & Documentation
- Implement and maintain the QMS on a day-to-day basis, keeping procedures, forms, and records accurate, up to date, and accessible
- Complete and review batch paperwork and production records in line with BRCGS requirements
- Record, investigate, and follow non-conformances through to corrective/preventive action (CAPA)
- Support traceability, mass balance, and recall procedures
Audits & Compliance
- Conduct internal audits across the facility
- Support the Operations Director and the site's food safety consultant in preparing for BRCGS and customer audits, including floor readiness and evidence-gathering
- Support the roll-out and floor-level implementation of SOPs and company procedures
QA Technician Support & Training
- Guide and support the QA Technician's day-to-day work, including coaching and checking their output
- Deliver training to production staff on BRCGS, GMP, hygiene, and company procedures
- Act as the first point of contact for quality queries from the production floor
Production Quality & Hygiene
- Oversee production quality checks across production lines
- Monitor hygiene standards across warehouse and production areas
- Ensure cleaning procedures and schedules are followed and correctly recorded
Supplier & Customer Support
- Maintain supplier documentation and quality approval records
- Support customer questionnaires, specifications, and technical requests, escalating complex or contractual queries as needed
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Following all company health & safety procedures
- Reporting hazards, accidents, or near misses
- Supporting safe working practices across the site
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in a QA/QC role within food, drink, or supplement manufacturing (essential)
- Working knowledge of the BRCGS Food Safety Standard and HACCP principles
- Experience with batch documentation, traceability, and non-conformance/CAPA processes
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confident communicator, comfortable training and guiding junior staff
- Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
- Comfortable splitting time between the factory floor and desk-based administration (Excel, QMS software)
- Experience supporting or guiding team members is desirable
- Relevant food safety qualifications (e.g. Level 3 HACCP, Level 2/3 Food Hygiene) desirable
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
