Finance Manager

Role Purpose
Salford City Football Club is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to support the financial management and day-to-day operational effectiveness of the Club.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining robust financial processes, supporting business operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the smooth running of the Club's finance department. Key Responsibilities
Finance
- Process purchase invoices, supplier payments and employee expense claims.
- Manage sales invoicing and credit control activities.
- Reconcile ticketing and retail income, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and process accounting entries.
- Perform daily bank transactions.
- Process ticketing reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Support annual audit processes and statutory reporting requirements.
- Monitor departmental expenditure and report budget variances.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including VAT and payroll reporting.
- Assist with EFL financial submissions and reporting obligations where applicable.
Payroll and People Administration
- Process monthly payroll information.
- Assist with recruitment administration, onboarding and employee documentation.
Governance and Compliance
- Assist with compliance with EFL regulations, company policies and statutory obligations.
- Maintain GDPR-compliant data management and record-keeping practices.
- Support safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Monitor compliance deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Assist with risk management and internal control procedures.
- Support preparation for audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards an accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role.
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting budgeting and financial reporting processes.
- Experience managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working within professional football or the sports industry.
- Knowledge of EFL regulations and football finance.
- Payroll administration experience.
- Experience supporting operational compliance and governance activities.

- Timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Completion of monthly reconciliations and reporting deadlines.
- Effective management of debtor and creditor balances.
- Accuracy of financial and operational records.
- Compliance with EFL, HMRC, GDPR and statutory requirements.
- Successful delivery of operational and administrative support services.
- Positive feedback from internal stakeholders and departmental managers.
