Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our assisted living or care home setting. The ideal candidate will plan and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of older adults, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability, including those requiring specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Organise group and individual activities that promote socialisation, mental engagement, physical activity, and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate closely with care staff to assess residents’ interests, preferences, and individual needs to personalise activity plans.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve programme offerings.
- Encourage resident participation through effective communication and motivational techniques.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Assist with organising special events, outings, and celebrations that foster community spirit within the care environment.
Skills
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing home environments or in senior care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care best practices is essential.
- Strong communication skills to engage residents effectively and collaborate with team members.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in improving the quality of life for older adults.
- Organised with the ability to plan, coordinate, and adapt activities based on residents’ changing needs.
