Apprentice Chef / Trainee Chef (Full Training Provided)
Location: The Cornish Arms, Tavistock
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Apprenticeship
Pay: £8.50–£9.50 per hour (depending on age, experience and whether enrolled on an apprenticeship) + share of monthly tips.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Chef or Trainee Chef to join our kitchen team. Whether you’re leaving school, changing careers or simply have a passion for cooking, this is an opportunity to learn from experienced chefs in a busy, fresh-food kitchen.
No previous kitchen experience is required—just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
The Role ~
As an Apprentice Chef, you’ll learn every aspect of working in a professional kitchen while developing the skills needed for a successful career as a chef.
Your responsibilities will include ~
- Assisting with the preparation and cooking of fresh, seasonal food
- Learning professional knife skills and cooking techniques
- Preparing ingredients to specification
- Supporting the team during busy service periods
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Learning stock rotation, food safety and kitchen organisation
- Working towards a recognised hospitality qualification (where applicable)
