Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, M W Waste Drainage Support Services Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Groundworker / Drainage Operative to join our team.
Based in North Yorkshire, we carry out drainage and civil engineering works throughout Yorkshire, the North East, North West and MOD establishments across the region.
The Role
The successful candidate will be involved in a wide variety of works including:
- Small drainage repairs and excavations
- Installation of septic tanks and package treatment plants
- Installation of drainage fields and soakaways
- Pipe laying and manhole construction
- General drainage maintenance and repair works
- Pump station installations and repairs
- Site reinstatement and groundwork activities
- Drainage surveys and investigations
- Supporting JetVac and tanker operations when required
- Assisting drainage engineers and crews across all areas of the business
This is a varied role and would suit someone who is flexible, practical and enjoys working as part of a team. No two days are the same, and applicants must be willing to assist other drainage crews, including JetVac, tanker and drainage maintenance teams, as workloads dictate.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in groundwork, drainage or civil engineering works
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Flexible approach to work and duties
- Willingness to support other operational teams when required
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Desirable Qualifications
- HGV Class 2 Licence (highly desirable)
- CPCS or NPORS Plant Tickets
- Street Works (NRSWA)
- EUSR Water Hygiene
- Confined Space Training
- CSCS Card
- First Aid at Work
- Experience operating excavators and dumpers
