Overview
A highly supportive SEND school in Spilsby is looking to recruit a PMLD 1:1 Support Worker to start in September. The role involves providing dedicated support to a pupil with profound and multiple learning difficulties, ensuring their physical, emotional, communication and educational needs are met throughout the school day.
This full-time opportunity offers the chance to work within a multidisciplinary team and has the potential to become a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to meet the pupil's educational, sensory, personal care and communication needs.
- Assist with mobility, positioning, feeding and personal care requirements where necessary.
- Implement strategies outlined within EHCPs, care plans and therapy programmes.
- Support engagement in classroom activities through sensory learning and personalised approaches.
- Work closely with therapists, teachers and healthcare professionals to ensure consistency of support.
- Use communication systems including Makaton, PECS, visual supports or communication aids where appropriate.
- Monitor wellbeing and respond appropriately to changes in physical or emotional presentation.
- Promote independence, dignity and inclusion across all aspects of school life.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, complex needs, disabilities or additional learning needs.
- Understanding of personal care and moving and handling practices.
- Knowledge of sensory-based approaches to learning.
- Ability to build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils requiring high levels of support.
- Calm, patient and compassionate approach.
- Relevant care, education, health and social care qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Pay: £95.00-£110.00 per day
