We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our vibrant Day Nursery. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of childcare, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children. Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, including staff supervision and operational management
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote children's development and learning
- Ensure compliance with all relevant childcare regulations and health & safety standards
- Lead by example in providing high-quality care and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents, and staff
- Oversee staff rotas, organise training sessions, and support team development programmes
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and safeguarding documentation
- Contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment that reflects best practices in early childhood education
- Support recruitment processes and participate in staff appraisals and performance reviews
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the nursery to enhance service quality
Requirements
- Proven management experience within a nursery or childcare setting
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Extensive knowledge of childcare practices, early childhood education principles, and relevant legislation
- Experience working directly with children across various age groups
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Valid driving licence is desirable for operational flexibility
- Passionate about working with children and committed to their well-being and development
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- A recognised qualification in childcare or early childhood education (e.g., Level 3 NVQ or equivalent) is essential
