Trainee Renewable System Surveyor/Designer
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Renewable System Surveyor/Designer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the renewable energy sector.
As a trainee, you will receive full training while working alongside experienced surveyors and designers. You will learn how to assess properties, gather technical information, and produce system designs for renewable energy installations, including solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps, and other low-carbon technologies.
Key Responsibilities once trained:
- Conduct site surveys for domestic renewable energy projects.
- Measure and assess properties, roof structures, and installation locations.
- Collect accurate site data, photographs, and measurements.
- Produce technical drawings and system layouts using design software (training provided).
- Assist with designing renewable energy systems that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
- Prepare survey reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards.
- Continue developing technical knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Eager to learn and develop a career in renewable energy.
- Organised, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Confident communicating with customers and colleagues.
- Practical with good problem-solving skills.
- Competent using technology and willing to learn specialist design softwares.
- Able to travel to customer sites.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Interest in renewable energy or sustainability.
- Experience using CAD or technical drawing software.
- Background in construction, electrical, engineering, surveying, or building services.
- Knowledge of Solar PV, battery storage, or heat pump systems.
