We are seeking an experienced & dynamic Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Tankersley Manor Hotel & Spa.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated culinary professional to take on a key leadership role within a busy hotel kitchen, supporting both restaurant & banqueting operations while benefiting from an excellent work-life balance through a 4-day working week (40 hours).
Working closely with the Senior Sous Chef & Head Chef, you will help oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene & service.
Located on the outskirts of Barnsley, Tankersley Manor Hotel & Spa is a 98-bedroom property featuring The Woodman Bar & Kitchen & extensive wedding and event facilities. Just a short drive from Sheffield, it is one of South Yorkshire’s leading hotel & events destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef & Senior Sous Chef in the smooth running of daily kitchen operations
- Supervise, train & motivate kitchen team members
- Prepare & cook dishes to established recipes & presentation standards
- Ensure food production consistently meets company quality, safety & hygiene standards
- Oversee stock control, ordering & inventory management to minimise waste
- Maintain a clean, organised & compliant kitchen environment at all times
- Support menu development & contribute creative ideas where appropriate
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, consistency & a strong work ethic
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie within a busy hospitality environment
- Strong culinary & food production skills
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring & developing kitchen teams
- Solid understanding of Food Safety, HACCP & hygiene best practices
- Excellent organisational skills & the ability to perform under pressure
- Strong communication & leadership abilities
- A passion for delivering high-quality food & exceptional guest experiences
