We are excited to be recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Animal Care Assistant to join our team at Woodbine. This is a varied and rewarding role working across our boarding kennels, cattery, and doggy day nursery.
We are looking for someone who is outgoing, hardworking, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare. The ideal candidate will thrive in a hands-on environment and enjoy working as part of a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing high-quality care for dogs and cats across all areas of the facility
- Handling and supervising groups of dogs safely and confidently
- Maintaining clean, hygienic, and comfortable living spaces for all animals
- Monitoring animal health, behaviour, and wellbeing
- Supporting daily operations within the kennels, cattery, and day nursery
Working Hours & Pay:
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week (at least one weekend day per week)
- Typical shifts include:
- 7:00am – 2:00pm
- 12:00pm – 7:00pm
- 7:00am – 6:00pm
- Flexibility is essential, including availability for weekends, bank holidays, Christmas, and school holidays
- Starting pay: National Minimum Wage (age dependent) plus tips
- Overtime available during busy periods and for holiday cover
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with dogs and/or cats
- Confident handling dogs of all sizes, including large groups
- A genuine passion for animals and their welfare
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Own transport (car, bike, etc.)
- Level 1 Animal Care qualification (or currently studying towards one)
