Role Purpose
The General Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day leadership, coordination and administration of GymKit UK.
Working closely with the Managing Director, the General Manager ensures departments work collaboratively, business operations run efficiently and company objectives are achieved. The role provides leadership across people management, office administration, compliance, Health & Safety and business processes while supporting the Finance, Commercial and Warehouse functions to ensure the business operates effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Business Management
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the business.
- Support the Managing Director in delivering the company's strategic objectives.
- Ensure departments work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
- Support and develop managers and employees across the business.
- Promote a positive, accountable and high-performing company culture.
- Drive continuous improvement across business processes.
- Monitor operational performance and resolve business issues.
- Coordinate cross-department projects and initiatives.
Financial Oversight
Working alongside the Finance Manager, provide operational oversight of the company's financial performance to support informed business decisions.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to review the company's financial performance.
- Monitor key financial and operational KPIs to support business objectives.
- Review budgets, cash flow forecasts and management reports, ensuring appropriate actions are taken where required.
- Support cost control initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Consider the financial impact of operational decisions and support effective business planning.
- Ensure financial policies, controls and reporting processes are followed across the business.
- Escalate significant financial risks or opportunities to the Managing Director.
Office & Administration
- Oversee the smooth running of the office environment.
- Develop and improve office procedures and administrative systems.
- Maintain company records, documentation and filing systems.
- Ensure company documentation remains accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate office facilities, equipment and workplace resources.
- Support administration across all business functions where required.
Human Resources
- Manage recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Maintain employee records.
- Coordinate staff training and development.
- Manage absence, holiday and wellbeing processes.
- Support performance management and employee development.
- Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Lead the company's Health & Safety programme.
- Maintain Health & Safety policies and risk assessments.
- Ensure office and warehouse compliance.
- Oversee GDPR compliance and company governance.
- Maintain company policies, procedures and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate insurance renewals and statutory requirements.
Operational Coordination
- Work closely with the Finance Manager, Commercial Manager and Warehouse Supervisor to ensure business operations run efficiently.
- Monitor departmental KPIs and service standards.
- Remove operational barriers and improve communication between departments.
- Support business planning and organisational development.
Reporting
- Report operational performance, business risks and improvement opportunities to the Managing Director.
- Support strategic planning and implementation of company objectives.
- Assist in delivering sustainable business growth.
Skills & Experience
- Previous senior management experience.
- Strong leadership, organisational and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing people and coordinating business operations.
- Good understanding of financial reporting and business performance.
- Knowledge of HR, employment legislation and Health & Safety.
- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced SME environment.
Desirable
- Finance or business management background.
- Experience within distribution, logistics or the commercial fitness industry.
- Experience using Xero, ERP or stock management systems.
- Health & Safety qualification.
- CIPD qualification or HR experience.

Monday to Friday (Office Based)
9am to 5pm
Pay: From £38,000.00 per year
