Duty Manager - The Norway Inn (Perranarworthal, Cornwall)

Nestled in the picturesque village of Perranarworthal, The Norway Inn is known for warm hospitality, exceptional service, and memorable food and drink. With four charming guest rooms and breakfast service each morning, we’re proud to be a friendly hub for locals and visitors alike.
Hours: 38 hours a week
Note: This role does not include live‑in accommodation.
The opportunity:
As Shift Manager, you’ll set the tone for great shifts—preparing the session, motivating the team, and ensuring every guest leaves happy. You’ll be a visible leader on the floor, keeping operations smooth, standards high, and service effortless.
What you’ll do:
- Own the shift: Prepare the venue and team for service; lead, direct, and motivate colleagues to deliver consistently excellent hospitality.
- Guest experience first: Be present on the floor, approachable, and proactive—creating a warm welcome and resolving queries or complaints professionally.
- Pub operations: Ensure spotless presentation; oversee cellar management and stock rotation; uphold licensing, health & safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Cellar & technical know‑how: Apply cellar management skills and use technology to boost efficiency.
- Financial & stock control: Assist with sales, GP, stock, wages, and ordering.
- Marketing & events: Support local events and promotions that strengthen community ties.
- Sustainability: Monitor energy/resource use and champion environmentally conscious practices.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in hospitality or pub management.
- Friendly, professional manner and high personal standards.
- Confidence holding licensing responsibility (Personal License preferred / APLH level 2 can be made available).
- Food Safety Level 3 preferred; Allergen Awareness Level 2 minimum.
- Strong cellar management knowledge.
- Comfort with technology.
