Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised Warehouse Lead & Indirect Purchaser to oversee our daily warehouse operations, manage indirect material procurement, and lead a dedicated logistics team. In this hybrid role, you will bridge physical inventory operations with strategic planning, ensuring smooth kit delivery to our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines while maintaining indirect stock to keep facility operations running seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse Leadership & Operations: Lead and mentor a small team of warehouse personnel. Oversee both inbound goods-in receiving and outbound logistics to maintain workflow efficiency.
- End-to-End Supply Chain Improvement: Systematically evaluate current procedures, from inbound receiving and internal material movement to outbound shipping, and implement continuous process improvements across the supply chain to boost throughput, stock accuracy, space utilisation, and operational flow.
- SMT Line Kitting & Support: Coordinate the timely and accurate kitting of components for SMT manufacturing lines to prevent production downtime.
- Material Shortage Management: Act as the primary first point of contact for reporting, escalating, and resolving material shortages across manufacturing operations.
- Stock & Demand Planning: Maintain stock levels using a structured Product Life Cycle (PLC) framework. Execute meticulous forward planning to align inventory levels with forecasted production demand.
- Indirect Purchasing: Manage end-to-end procurement of indirect goods, consumables, tools, and operational supplies required across departments.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering and Procurement teams. Maintain clear, concise, and structured communication across all levels of the organisation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3+ years in warehouse or inventory management within an electronics manufacturing environment (SMT experience preferred).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and organise a small warehouse team effectively.
- Inventory Control: Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems, stock control, and PLC-based inventory modelling.
- Purchasing: Background in indirect procurement and supplier liaison.
- Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical foresight for demand planning, and clear verbal/written communication skills.
Pay: £40,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
