About Digital Scientists®
Digital Scientists® is a business growth consultancy that helps organisations generate more opportunities, improve their online presence and transform the way they operate.
Our team brings together expertise across social media, SEO, paid advertising, website development, user experience, AI, automation and business systems. We work with businesses of different sizes and across a wide range of industries, which means no two clients—or working days—are exactly the same.
We are now looking for a creative and commercially aware Social Media Executive to strengthen the social media support we provide to clients while improving the presence of Digital Scientists® and our specialist brands.
The Role
This is a junior-level role suited to someone who already has a good practical understanding of social media and is ready to take greater ownership of client content.
You will be responsible for helping clients maintain an active, relevant and professional presence across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. This will include creating structured social media schedules, producing content, coordinating approvals and reviewing performance.
However, this role is about more than scheduling posts weeks in advance.
We need someone who actively follows current affairs, industry developments, online conversations and emerging trends. You should be able to recognise when a relevant opportunity arises and respond quickly with content that is timely, appropriate and commercially valuable.
You will also help us practise what we advise by developing a stronger and more consistent social media presence for Digital Scientists® and our wider service brands.
The role includes the opportunity to earn an additional performance-related bonus of up to £6,000 per annum against clearly agreed KPIs. These may include areas such as client retention, content delivery, engagement growth, campaign performance, lead generation and the continued improvement of our own social media presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage monthly social media schedules for a portfolio of clients.
- Research each client’s industry, services, customers and competitors.
- Write clear and engaging social media copy in the appropriate brand voice.
- Create or coordinate graphics, short-form videos, carousels and other social content.
- Present content schedules to clients and manage the approval process.
- Schedule and publish approved content across relevant platforms.
- Monitor current affairs, industry news, awareness days and emerging trends.
- Identify opportunities for timely, reactive and topical content.
- Adapt ideas and trends intelligently rather than simply copying what other brands are doing.
- Help clients promote services, expertise, events, achievements and company updates.
- Support community engagement by monitoring comments, messages and relevant conversations.
- Review account performance and recommend practical improvements.
- Maintain the social media presence of Digital Scientists® and our specialist brands.
- Work alongside our SEO, website, paid advertising and business growth specialists to support wider client campaigns.
- Maintain accurate records of content, approvals, activity and results.
- Contribute towards agreed performance targets and help demonstrate the commercial value of social media activity.
What We Are Looking For
You do not need to be an established Social Media Manager, but you should understand how businesses can use social media to build visibility, credibility and commercial opportunities.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Around one to two years of experience in social media, content marketing or a related role.
- Experience creating content for business or professional social media accounts.
- Strong written English and the ability to adjust tone for different audiences.
- An awareness of what is happening across social platforms, news and popular culture.
- Good judgement when deciding whether a trend is relevant to a particular client.
- The confidence to suggest ideas and explain the thinking behind them.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple content schedules.
- Basic graphic and video content creation skills using tools such as Canva, Adobe Express or CapCut.
- An understanding of social media analytics and common performance measures.
- The ability to work quickly without compromising accuracy or brand standards.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of assigned accounts.
- A commercially minded approach and an interest in how social activity contributes to enquiries, leads, sales and client retention.
Agency experience would be helpful but is not essential. A marketing-related qualification is welcome, although practical ability, commercial awareness and the quality of your work will be more important.
The Person We Are Looking For
You will naturally notice stories, conversations and trends that could become useful content.
You may see a news story and immediately consider which clients could comment on it. You may spot a change within an industry and recognise an opportunity to demonstrate a client’s expertise. You will understand that reactive content needs to be relevant and credible—not simply an attempt to attach a brand to every trending topic.
You should be comfortable working across very different industries and learning enough about each client to communicate confidently on their behalf.
Most importantly, you will be curious, dependable, commercially aware and full of ideas.
Salary, Bonus and Progression
The starting salary for this role is £27,000–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
In addition to the basic salary, there is the possibility of earning a KPI-based performance bonus of up to £6,000 per annum. Performance measures will be clearly defined, regularly reviewed and based on factors within the employee’s reasonable control.
This role also offers genuine progression. As your experience, client responsibilities and results grow, there will be opportunities to develop into positions such as Senior Social Media Executive, Social Media Manager or a broader digital marketing and account management role.
Progression will not be based solely on length of service. It will reflect performance, initiative, commercial contribution, client management and the ability to take increasing ownership of strategy and delivery.
What You Can Expect
- A competitive salary with the potential to earn up to £6,000 per annum through a performance-related KPI bonus.
- Clear objectives and regular performance reviews.
- Defined opportunities for salary and career progression.
- A varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
- Exposure to wider areas of digital marketing, including SEO, paid advertising, websites and conversion strategy.
- The opportunity to develop from content delivery into social media strategy and account ownership.
- Support from experienced marketing, commercial and technical specialists.
- Genuine input into how Digital Scientists® develops its own social media presence.
- A fast-moving environment where useful ideas are encouraged and acted upon.
Pay: £14.42-£17.31 per hour

- Additional leave
- Casual dress
