Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated 18t Shunt Driver to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving heavy-duty equipment, specifically 18-ton shunt trucks, within our facility. Your expertise in commercial driving and flatbed handling will ensure smooth operations, accurate deliveries, and optimal yard organization. Responsibilities
- Safely operate 18-ton shunt trucks to move trailers and equipment within the yard and loading areas
- Load and unload freight using flatbed trucks, ensuring secure placement of cargo
- Conduct routine inspections of the shunt truck to maintain safety standards and vehicle functionality
- Assist with trailer switching, positioning, and staging for efficient loading and unloading processes
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic regulations to prevent accidents or damage
- Maintain accurate documentation of trailer movements and yard activities
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and dispatchers to coordinate deliveries and pickups
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for heavy-duty vehicles
- Proven experience operating flatbed trucks or similar commercial vehicles, preferably in a delivery or yard environment
- Prior experience as a delivery driver or in a logistics role involving trailer movement
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy vehicle operation and yard management
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading/unloading cargo and maneuvering trailers in tight spaces
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed to support operational demands
