Pharmacy assistants without a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 2 in pharmacy service skills will be considered but will be expected to work towards this as band 2 to 3 progression.
You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. You will also need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.
The department actively promotes development, education and training. To apply you will need to have good GCSEs or equivalent and a NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or working towards completing the NVQ level 2 qualification.
The post holder will be required to participate in late duty, weekends & bank holiday rota.
Perform daily temperature monitoring within different areas of the pharmacy department as required by the MHRA
Assists in dispensing medicines to inpatients and outpatients when required
Work on the reception receiving prescriptions from patients and taking responsibility for prescription charge money
Receive requisitions and telephone calls from healthcare professionals
Deal with enquiries from patients and healthcare staff and pass on to relevant staff if necessary
Ensures good housekeeping in the pharmacy by keeping benches and baskets clear of drugs no longer required.
Checks expiry dates and rotates stock
Unpack delivery and put drugs away in pharmacy
