Trent’s Drains | Bristol
Trent’s Drains is a fast-growing, family-run drainage company based in Bristol, providing drainage and environmental services to customers nationwide.
We’re known for our reliable 24/7 response, high level of service and down-to-earth approach. Our teams include Drainage Engineers, CCTV Surveying Teams, Groundworkers and a Tanker Division, all supported by our busy Bristol HQ.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Service Scheduler / Dispatch Coordinator to join our office team and play a key role in keeping our nationwide operation running smoothly.
This is not an entry-level administration role. Previous experience in scheduling, dispatch, planning or coordinating field-based teams is essential.
The Role
You’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day operations, making sure the right people are in the right place at the right time.
This is a fast-paced, high-volume role. Our office can be extremely busy, with a large volume of incoming calls, emails and customer enquiries, alongside constant changes to the daily schedule.
You’ll need to be an excellent multi-tasker who can prioritise effectively, stay organised and keep calm under pressure. You’ll regularly be dealing with several things at once, so the ability to switch between tasks quickly without losing attention to detail is essential.
Using BigChange, you’ll coordinate our engineers and field teams across planned works, reactive jobs and 24/7 emergency callouts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling and dispatching drainage engineers, CCTV teams, tanker crews and groundworkers
- Managing a busy diary and allocating jobs efficiently
- Handling a high volume of incoming calls and emails
- Managing reactive and emergency callouts as part of our 24/7 operation
- Booking planned maintenance, quoted works and follow-on jobs
- Managing incoming enquiries and understanding customer requirements
- Preparing and assisting with quotations where required
- Providing field teams with clear job information, updates and instructions
- Liaising with customers and clients throughout the job to provide clear updates
- Monitoring job progress and making adjustments to schedules when required
- Maintaining accurate job records and job progression within BigChange
- Dealing with problems quickly and finding practical solutions when things don’t go to plan
- Working closely with the wider operations team to keep the day running smoothly
No two days will be the same. Priorities can change quickly, emergency jobs can come in at short notice and the schedule may need to be reorganised throughout the day.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in this type of environment rather than finds it overwhelming.
What We’re Looking For
Previous scheduling, dispatch or coordination experience is essential.
We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in roles such as:
- Service Scheduler
- Engineer Scheduler
- Dispatch Coordinator
- Service Coordinator
- Operations Coordinator
- Field Service Coordinator
- Transport / Fleet Scheduler
- Planner / Scheduler
Experience within drainage, plumbing, construction, utilities, engineering, facilities management, transport or another field-based service environment would be a strong advantage.
Drainage experience is not required — full training will be provided on our industry, systems and processes.
You’ll need:
- Proven experience in scheduling, dispatching, planning or coordinating field-based work
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- The ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
- Confidence handling a large volume of calls, emails and customer enquiries
- The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving
- The ability to make decisions and adapt quickly when circumstances change
- Confidence communicating with engineers, customers, clients and colleagues
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- A positive attitude and a genuine desire to build a long-term career
Experience with scheduling, fleet or job management software would be beneficial. We use BigChange, and full training will be provided.
This role is not suited to someone looking for a quiet office-based administration position.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working at pace, managing a high volume of calls and emails, juggling multiple priorities and making decisions throughout the day.
If you enjoy being kept busy, are naturally organised and take pride in keeping a complex operation running smoothly, this could be the role for you.
