Are you a skilled Fabricator/Welder looking for a role where your craft genuinely matters? This is a hands-on position where you'll use your welding and fabrication skills every day, keeping a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, trailers and plant equipment in working order, and tackling the kind of varied, problem-solving repairs that keep the job interesting.
What You'll Be Working On
You'll be fabricating and welding across a wide range of vehicles, plant and on-site infrastructure:
Fleet Vehicles
- HGV chassis cabs — DAF, Volvo, Renault
- Hook lift trailers, curtain siders, tankers
Plant & Site Equipment
- JCB Telehandlers, loading shovels, compactors
- Conveyors, mills and portable plant machinery
- On-site steel structures and site maintenance fabrication
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Carry out ongoing mild steel fabrication and welding repairs to our fleet of vehicles, trailers and plant equipment
- Carry out repairs or replacement of faulty parts and components using your welding and fabrication skills
- Deal with breakdowns proactively and assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to ensure minimal downtime
- Carry out general repairs and assist with services on fleet trucks, trailers and site infrastructure
- Adhere to governing welding procedure specifications (WPS) at all times
- Apply correct preheat, control interpass temperatures and demonstrate strong all-round process knowledge
- Work to our quality procedures and maintain accurate records of work carried out
- Follow all company Health & Safety requirements to ensure a safe working environment at all times
- Keep your work area clean, tidy and well-organised at all times
- Think creatively and work outside the box to find practical solutions for complex or unusual repairs
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Welding/fabrication qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent) or substantial hands-on experience
- Solid practical experience in mild steel MIG welding and fabrication
- Ability to work confidently to welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- Good understanding of preheat application, interpass temperature control and welding process knowledge
- UK Full Driving Licence
Desirable
- Experience in multi-process welding (MIG, MMA, TIG)
- Experience working on HGV vehicles, trailers or plant equipment
- Knowledge of LOLER regulations

Hours of Work
Vacancy: 47.5 hours per week (45 hours excluding 30 minutes unpaid lunch breaks) — Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm. Some occasional weekend work may be required.
Pay & Benefits
