The Financial Controller will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of Focus Birmingham's financial strategy, ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable and well-positioned to achieve its mission. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will provide strategic financial leadership, helping to drive informed decision-making across the organisation.
You will lead the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes, working closely with managers to build financial capability, provide challenge and support, and ensure strong budget management across all departments. Through effective business partnering, you will provide meaningful financial insight to support operational and strategic objectives.
The role is responsible for maintaining robust financial controls, managing cashflow and financial risk, and overseeing credit control processes to maximise income collection and financial stability. You will ensure the delivery of accurate management accounts, forecasts, statutory accounts and audit requirements, maintaining compliance with all regulatory and statutory obligations.
As Financial Controller, you will lead and develop the Finance Team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and excellent customer service. You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, banks and funders, while presenting financial information clearly and confidently to senior leaders, committees and the Board.
You will also oversee key operational areas including payroll, pensions, insurance and banking relationships, while providing financial modelling and analysis to support new services, funding opportunities, bids and tenders. As organisational lead for Data Protection, you will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and contribute to wider organisational governance and risk management activities.

Qualified accountant or actively working towards a professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
