We are looking for an experienced and scientifically credible Application Scientist to join our Applied Sciences team. Depending on your experience, you will be appointed at either Senior or Principal level. Both roles are focused on supporting our members by bridging deep scientific knowledge with the practical application of Lhasa’s in silico chemical safety solutions, with the Principal level carrying additional strategic and leadership responsibilities.
You will build trusted relationships with members, guide them in applying our software effectively, and act as a key link between member needs and Lhasa’s internal teams. This is an externally facing role that will see you representing Lhasa at conferences, workshops, and industry events worldwide.
Both roles report to the Director of Applied Sciences.

Member engagement and solution development
- Build and maintain strong, proactive relationships with members to drive long-term engagement and retention.
- Serve as a trusted scientific expert, guiding members in applying Lhasa’s solutions to their unique use cases.
- Provide tailored training and scientific support on the application of our software, scoped to members’ individual and organisational needs.
- Act as a bridge between members and Lhasa’s internal teams, ensuring solution development remains closely connected to member needs.
- Identify and progress opportunities that support the development of new and existing solutions.
Scientific leadership and external influence
- Represent Lhasa at conferences, industry forums, and regulatory meetings, communicating the value and application of our solutions.
- Contribute to the identification of new scientific opportunities, including new use cases, territories, and industry segments.
At Principal level, you will additionally:
- Lead and shape strategic relationships with key members, regulators, and industry bodies, acting as Lhasa’s principal representative in key forums.
- Drive the identification and development of new scientific opportunities with demonstrable impact on Lhasa’s strategic positioning.
- Lead or co-chair data sharing consortia, steering scientific direction and ensuring outcomes align with Lhasa’s vision and member needs.
- Mentor and develop colleagues within Applied Sciences, upholding the performance standard of the team.
- Contribute to strategic planning within Applied Sciences, bringing external insight to inform team priorities and resource allocation.
You are a confident scientific communicator with the ability to engage credibly with both scientific and industry audiences. You have a strong understanding of chemical structures, toxicology, metabolism, degradation, or organic chemistry, and can apply this knowledge to complex, real-world member problems.
You are proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused — comfortable working independently and as part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team. You are sensitive to cultural differences and willing to travel nationally and internationally on a regular basis (~40% of your time).
- The ability to operate with significant autonomy, representing Lhasa at the highest external level with confidence and precision.
- Proven negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to shape outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to identify and shape long-term scientific opportunities that serve both members and Lhasa’s charitable purpose.
- Strong internal leadership capability, including the ability to mentor others, manage priorities, and inspire high performance.
- Business-level fluency in at least one language other than English is an advantage.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- A Master’s or PhD in a chemistry or toxicology related discipline.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or a related industry, with a strong background in toxicology, metabolism, degradation, or organic chemistry.
- Extensive experience using in silico tools in a professional setting.
- Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks applicable to chemical safety assessment, including ICH Q3A–Q3E, ICH M7, and RDC 53.
- Scientific communication at the highest level, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or contributions to regulatory guidance.
- A proven track record of leading scientific initiatives, consortia, or strategic partnerships with members or regulators.
- Experience mentoring or managing scientists, with clear evidence of positive impact on colleague development.
