An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Caravan and Motorhome Technician at our UK renowned Service Centre - at Scotland's largest motorhome and caravan dealership.
Perthshire Caravan Company is a family business that was established in 1936, and we sell only the most reputable and well known caravan and motorhome brands from the UK and the continent.
Technicians are a key part of our business and they support the sales and service functions of our company. We have four levels of technician: Trainee Technician, Technician, Senior Technician and Master Technician.
Duties and responsibilities of a Technician are as follows:
- Pre-delivery inspection of caravans and motorhomes
- Repairs to caravans and motorhomes
- Servicing of caravans and motorhomes
- Fitting of accessories to caravans and motorhomes
- Discussing technical queries with customers on the telephone and in person
- Calling manufacturers and suppliers to discuss issues
- Completing parts order requests for the Aftersales team
- Attending training courses as required
The Technician position offers a contract for a 40 hour week (Monday to Friday, 8am - 4.30pm, 8 hours a day shift, half hour lunch break).
Overtime ( at 'time and a half' rate) is available on weekdays (at the end of the day -one hour per weekday). Saturday morning overtime is also available for qualified Technicians on a voluntary basis (including bonus incentives for working a Saturday morning). This is all in addition to advertised salary.
Technician status deems that you are working above trainee level and have suitable experience to perform the tasks the job demands of you.
Renumeration is dependent on experience.
We would consider trainee applicants as well however a candidate coming into that position would of course be paid at the appropriate rate. Full training can be provided for trainees.
We are part of the Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS). AWS is a joint enterprise between the NCC (National Caravan Council), The Caravan and Motorhome Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club. Originating on the 1st January 1978, and the only scheme to be supported by all of the major UK manufacturers , AWS is now the UK's largest group of independently assessed workshops and is seen as the benchmark for motorhome and touring caravan servicing in the UK.
There are currently over 550 fixed and mobile Approved Workshops across the UK.
All of our technicians gain the full complement of AWS qualifications to ensure they are working to industry standard. This includes gas and electrical courses, and City & Guilds in Caravan Servicing. Our company covers the cost of these courses for the candidate.
Relevant skills that would allow a candidate to sit these qualificatications promptly would be considered when appointing to the advertised role.
