Strawberry Fields Farm Shop – Lifton
Permanent | Full-time | 45 hours over five days
Due to continued growth, Strawberry Fields Farm Shop has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, hands-on Retail Supervisor to join our award-winning and wonderfully fast-paced team.
Working closely with our Retail & Distribution Manager and wider management team, you will play a key part in the smooth day-to-day running of our busy retail operation. This varied role covers our farm shop food ranges, gifting department and deli counter, alongside supporting with deliveries and goods-in within our warehouse.
You’ll lead from the front, support and inspire the team, maintain exceptional standards and help ensure every customer receives the warm, memorable Strawberry Fields experience we are known for.
No two days at Strawberry Fields are ever quite the same. Alongside the everyday buzz of the farm shop, our seasonal events and ever-changing product ranges bring plenty of variety, energy and opportunity to get creative. What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Retail & Distribution Manager with the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the farm shop
- Working across all areas of our retail operation, including farm shop food, gifting and the deli counter
- Taking responsibility for the shop floor and wider retail operation during your shifts
- Leading from the front and being a visible, positive and approachable presence for both the team and our customers
- Motivating, coaching and developing team members to deliver outstanding customer service and consistently high standards
- Helping to organise daily priorities, delegate tasks and ensure they are completed accurately and on time
- Ensuring all areas are fully stocked, beautifully presented and ready to trade throughout the day
- Monitoring product availability and responding quickly to gaps, changing customer demand and busy trading periods
- Maintaining excellent standards of merchandising, ticketing, point of sale, cleanliness and overall shop presentation
- Supporting stock control, ordering, stock rotation, date checking and waste reduction
- Supporting with deliveries and goods-in within the warehouse, ensuring stock is received, checked and handled correctly
- Using sales and EPOS information to understand performance, identify opportunities and support good commercial decisions
- Responding to customer enquiries and resolving concerns in a friendly, professional and efficient way
- Supporting rotas, holidays, team communication and training where required
- Ensuring company procedures and all food safety, health and safety and legal requirements are followed
- Supporting our busy seasonal events and promotions, bringing energy, flexibility and creative ideas
- Stepping up to support the wider retail operation and providing management cover when required
About you
You’ll be a confident and capable retail leader who genuinely enjoys being part of the action. This is a hands-on role, so you’ll be just as comfortable helping customers, filling shelves, serving on the deli counter, creating displays and supporting a delivery as you are leading a shift and setting priorities for the team.
You will have:
- Previous experience in a retail supervisory, team leader or management role
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service
- The confidence to lead, motivate and support a busy team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
- The ability to prioritise, delegate and remain calm under pressure
- Good commercial awareness, with an understanding of sales, stock, waste and availability
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to take responsibility, use initiative and make sensible decisions
- A positive, flexible and solutions-focused approach
- Confidence using EPOS systems and everyday computer programmes
- A creative eye and enthusiasm for displays, promotions and bringing products to life
- The flexibility and willingness to work across every area of the retail operation
Experience within a farm shop, food retail, deli or fresh produce environment would be advantageous, but your attitude, leadership style and willingness to get stuck in are every bit as important.
Working pattern
This is a full-time position of 45 hours over five days each week.
The working pattern will include:
- One weekend day each week
- Early shifts beginning at 7am
- A couple of evening shifts each week, finishing at approximately 8.15pm
- Additional flexibility during our busiest seasonal trading periods and large-scale events
