Job Summary:
A Yard Operator is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the yard. They assist with loading and unloading materials, moving stock, operating equipment where qualified, and ensuring goods are stored correctly. The role supports the smooth operation of the business by keeping the yard tidy and ensuring materials are readily available. Driving company van to collect goods from suppliers as and when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep the yard clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
- Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Organize and store materials in designated locations.
- Assist delivery drivers when collecting or delivering goods.
- Carry out stock checks and report shortages or damaged items.
- Operate forklifts or other machinery (where licensed and trained).
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance issues.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist warehouse or production staff as required.
- Dispose of waste and recyclable materials appropriately.
- Collecting goods from suppliers
Skills and Qualifications:
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift heavy items.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations.
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
- Full clean driving license
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse and driving is advantageous.
Our working hours are Monday - Thursday 07:30 - 17:00 with 30-minute unpaid break and Friday 07:30 - 12:30. Level of skill will reflect in salary and opportunity to enhance skills and pay though flexibility, with in house training.
Pay: From £28,291.64 per year
