Wallacetown Gardens is a 20 bedded care home for residents aged 18-65 and we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation and service run smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn.
Duties
- Assist chefs and cooks in the preparation of meals and ingredients.
- Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Help with the organisation of kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Support in the cooking process by preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables and measuring ingredients.
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas after use to maintain cleanliness.
- Assist with the plating of dishes for service.
- Participate in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is beneficial but not essential; we welcome those eager to learn.
- Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable.
- Experience in restaurant or catering settings is a plus but not mandatory.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well under pressure are essential traits for success in this role.
