Ambitions is a family-run business; we really value our staff, and this shows as our longest-serving members have been with us for 9 and 10 years! We have a small, close-knit team of 5 support workers, and we are looking to recruit someone to join us!
We were inspected by Ofsted in February 2025 and received the highest rating, which we are really proud of!
Hours - . Currently, the shift pattern is 5pm Friday until 9am Sunday each week. However, we can move the rota around if these shifts are not suitable. We are looking for around 40 hours per week.
About the Role:
As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 16 to 18 on their journey towards independence. You will provide guidance, mentorship, and practical support to empower them to develop essential life skills and achieve their goals.
This role requires you to work closely with young people facing various challenges, including those transitioning from care, leaving school, or experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities: -
· Constantly assessing the young person’s support plans, health plans and risk assessments.
· Ensure that young person’s care plans are followed so young people have as much control over their future as possible
· Assist young people to maximise their finances effectively and to develop their budgeting skills
· Ensuring that all young person’s personal records are kept up to date
· Accurately completing the young person’s daily logs
· Attending meetings with young people and other agencies
· Assisting young people to create CVs and to find employment
· Encouraging young people to engage with education and to assist in finding relevant educational opportunities
· Make sure the young person’s medical and health needs are met by assisting with medical, dental, and optician appointments.
· Assist young people to develop menu plans, cook healthy meals and food shopping
· To promote independent living, build confidence and self-awareness
· To be a positive role model and be able to enforce firm but fair boundaries
· Taking young people to family contact, meetings, reviews, appointments, interviews
· Enable young people to engage in appropriate activities and to be creative and inspiring for young people to start new interests and hobbies
· Provide quality, responsive support that meets the physical and emotional needs of every young person
· Be aware of Ambitions policies & procedures and pay particular attention to safeguarding, bullying, equality and diversity and health & safety.
· To complete the mandatory training set by management
· Keep professional boundaries in and outside of the work environment
Requirements: -
Understanding of independence skills development, including budgeting, cooking, and self-care -
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds -
Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to support young individuals -
Strong organisational and administrative skills, including record-keeping and report writing -
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team -
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and work schedules -
