We are recruiting for an Assistant Bid Manager to join us at Siemens Mobility - Customer Services, Rail Infrastructure business. Reporting to the Head of Bids, you will be part of a centralised bidding team that is responsible for the delivery of all bids for Siemens Customer Services Rail Infrastructure business, supporting to ensure appropriate levels of governance and accuracy is applied to a winning strategy.
Please note that this role is hybrid (London or Chippenham).
You’ll make a difference by…

Supporting the end-to-end bid process, from opportunity qualification and tender review through to submission and successful handover to delivery teams.

Coordinating and managing contributions from technical, commercial and operational stakeholders to ensure high-quality bid deliverables are completed on time.

Producing, formatting and quality-checking compelling proposal documents, presentations and submission materials that meet customer requirements and Siemens standards.

Organising bid meetings, maintaining bid plans, tracking actions and ensuring accurate documentation and records are kept up to date throughout the bid lifecycle.

Collaborating with bid managers and business leaders to understand customer requirements, bid strategy and commercial considerations, helping to strengthen winning proposals.

Driving compliance and continuous improvement by following company policies and quality standards while contributing ideas to enhance bid processes, tools and knowledge-sharing across the team.
What you’ll need to succeed…

Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
-
Ability to assist in the successful management of the delivery of bids through corporate governance procedures, including parallel approval workstreams (e.g. financial, technical, commercial etc.)

An appreciation of bid management processes from an engineering perspective, in a regulated industry.
-
Commercially astuteness and the ability to question offers to minimise risk to the business.

Ability to influence and negotiate with people at mid-management levels within Siemens and customer organisations, whilst fostering strong working relationships.

Ability to work under pressure and to tight/challenging deadlines.

An interest in new digital tools such as AI and Data Reporting
Desirable:

An understanding of the railway industry

An understanding of service led contracts, how they are managed and delivered in order to influence, monitor and challenge every aspect of the bid i.e. finance, engineering, planning, delivery and commercial inputs.

Experience working in an administrative, project support, coordination or customer-facing role.

Business development appreciation in order to support the key account managers in developing a winning proposal to customers and to support negotiations.

Drive to want to lead teams, motivating and directing team members to a shared goal.
