Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Nursery Practitioner to cover lunchtime duties within our vibrant early childhood setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about childcare and early childhood education to make a positive impact on young children’s daily experiences. As a Lunch Cover Nursery Practitioner, you will support the smooth operation of the nursery during lunch periods, ensuring children are safe, engaged, and cared for in a nurturing environment. Your proactive approach and leadership skills will help foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere where children can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children during lunchtime activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Assist with mealtime routines, including serving food, encouraging good manners, and supporting children with eating as needed
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote social interaction and development during breaks
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment by following health and safety protocols before, during, and after lunch periods
- Support the nursery team with additional duties such as setting up activities or helping with transitions between routines
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and guardians to ensure consistent care and share relevant updates about children’s progress or needs
- Follow all nursery policies and procedures to ensure compliance with childcare regulations and standards
Skills
- Proven experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting
- Excellent communication skills in English to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare best practices
- Ability to work flexibly within a team environment while demonstrating initiative
- Valid childcare qualifications or nursery experience preferred
- A valid driver’s license is advantageous for supporting nursery operations or outings if required
