The Children's Cook is tasked with preparing and delivering nutritious, balanced meals for children and staff within a care setting. This role is crucial in ensuring that meals are cooked to a high standard, meet dietary requirements, and are served on time. The position involves preparing a daily light lunch and a two-course evening meal.
Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a single-course light lunch to be served at 1:00 PM.

Prepare and cook a two-course evening meal to be served at 5:00 PM.

Cater for up to 20 children and adults, ensuring appropriate portion sizes.

Follow set menus and pre-planned food orders.

Ensure all meals are nutritious, balanced, and suitable for children.
Requirements

Previous experience working as a cook, preferably within a school, care, or childcare setting.

Experience preparing meals for groups.

Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.

Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) – essential.
Additional Information

Working hours: 37 hours per week with some flexibility, but meals must be prepared at specified times.

Menus are provided, and food orders are already planned.

Enhanced DBS check with Child Barred List required.
