Control Panel Technician / Workshop Manager

Brit Systems is looking for an experienced Control Panel Technician / Workshop Manager to help establish and lead our panel manufacturing workshop. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble electrical control panels from electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Layout and populate panel backplates with electrical components.
- Wire power and control circuits in accordance with panel schematics.
- Install and wire components including circuit breakers, relays, switches, terminal blocks and associated equipment.
- Test, inspect and commission completed control panels prior to despatch.
- Carry out fault finding and resolve wiring or component issues where required.
- Complete pre-checks, testing procedures and all relevant quality documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of panel assembly, wiring and testing.
- Order workshop materials and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company procedures.
- Train, mentor and support apprentices, helping to develop a skilled and motivated manufacturing team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of the workshop and manufacturing department.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar Control Panel Technician or Panel Wireman role.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Proven experience assembling and wiring industrial control panels.
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
- Excellent fault-finding and testing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Experience using power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor and support apprentices.
Desirable
- Previous workshop supervisory or management experience.
- CAD knowledge.
- Experience with PLCs, BMS (Building Management Systems) and industrial automation.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical standards and testing procedures.
