We are seeking a multi-skilled, confident and experienced Lead Maintenance Technician or Engineer to join our team in Wigan. This vital role involves overseeing service, repair and maintenance operations to ensure the smooth running of our manufacturing and filling processes, supporting our mission to provide top-tier chemical products to the market.
The Role will include:
- Lead and coordinate all site maintenance activities across the facility to maximize operational efficiency and ensure safe, reliable and efficient plant operation.
- Provide hands-on technical support across mechanical equipment and electrical control equipment (electrical and electronic experience would be beneficial).
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using schematics and PLC knowledge.
- Lead daily maintenance activities, prioritising planned and reactive work.
- Supervise maintenance staff, providing guidance and training to ensure safety and quality standards.
- Manage maintenance projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment uptime.
- Manage contractors and ensure work is completed to required standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis investigations.
- Work collaboratively with production teams to optimise plant performance.
- Drive reliability improvements and reduce downtime in a production environment.
- Support and develop maintenance team members.
- Your skills will include:
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance, preferably within manufacturing, chemical or process sectors.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and PLC programming.
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, with a can-do attitude.
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams effectively.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience managing maintenance projects from start to finish.
- Fluency in English is required.

- Ability to research and source equipment, parts and spares
