Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Counter Assistant to join our pharmacy team. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, assist with medication dispensing, and support patient care activities. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, contributing to the well-being of our patients while developing valuable skills in pharmacy operations. Prior experience as a pharmacy technician or in medication administration is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers at the pharmacy counter with a friendly and professional attitude
- Dispense medications accurately under supervision, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards
- Support the pharmacy team with medication administration and patient care tasks as required
- Maintain organised records of prescriptions and patient information in accordance with data protection regulations
- Manage stock levels, including ordering and restocking medicines and supplies
- Provide information to customers regarding over-the-counter products and general health advice within scope of practice
- Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the counter area to promote a safe working environment
- Assist in processing insurance claims and billing procedures as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in medication administration is preferred
- Knowledge of patient care practices within a healthcare setting
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy
- A friendly, approachable manner with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in pharmacy assistance or healthcare are advantageous but not essential
