Practice Manager
Help us build the operational engine behind a fast-growing law firm
Not every Practice Manager wants to spend their career maintaining processes that have worked the same way for years.
Some want to be part of building something.
They want to understand how a business works, make things run better, take real ownership and have the freedom to spot a problem and help solve it.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
At Jamieson Law, we advise ambitious businesses through every stage of their journey. Whether they're buying or selling a business, bringing in investors, restructuring their group, negotiating key commercial contracts or preparing for growth, we're the legal team they trust to help them move forward with confidence.
We're a modern, entrepreneurial law firm that combines high-quality legal advice with commercial thinking, responsiveness and genuinely great client relationships. We don't believe in unnecessary complexity or traditional law firm bureaucracy. We believe in doing things well, finding better ways to work and building a business that is a great place for both our clients and our team.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Practice Manager to join us and play an important role in the next stage of the firm.
Why Jamieson Law?
We're building something different.
We've grown quickly, and we're now moving from the early stages of the business into our next phase of growth. That means strengthening the systems, processes and operational infrastructure behind the firm – and that's where you come in.
This isn't a role where you'll sit on the sidelines. You'll work closely with our COO, founders and wider team and have genuine responsibility for helping the business run effectively.
That means you'll:
- Take ownership of key operational processes across the firm
- Work closely with our COO and founders
- Have visibility across the business rather than being confined to one narrow area
- Be trusted to spot issues, solve problems and suggest better ways of working
- Have the autonomy to take ownership without unnecessary layers of management
- Be part of a collaborative, supportive team where everyone wants each other to succeed
- Have genuine opportunities to broaden your role and develop your career as the firm continues to grow
We're fully remote, highly collaborative and embrace technology to help us deliver an exceptional experience for both our clients and our team.
The Role
This is a broad Practice Manager role supporting the day-to-day operational running of the firm.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and maintaining daily, weekly and monthly management reporting
- Managing invoicing and supporting our regular billing processes
- Managing credit control and debt collection, including following up with clients and escalating where appropriate
- Supporting client onboarding, including identity and verification checks, due diligence records and conflict checks
- Supporting the firm's anti-money laundering administration and maintaining the relevant records and registers
- Carrying out ongoing risk management and compliance tasks and ensuring actions and deadlines are followed through
- Monitoring time recording across the team and following up where necessary
- Reviewing social media content before publication from a risk, accuracy and reputational perspective
- Supporting people administration, including onboarding new team members, leave and absence records and training records
- Helping to manage the firm's systems, subscriptions, suppliers and renewals
- Providing general administrative and operational support to our client team
- Supporting the COO and founders with ad hoc operational projects as the business continues to grow
The role will be varied, and we don't expect every candidate to arrive with experience of every element of it.
The level of responsibility you take on will depend on your skills and experience. What matters is that you're someone who is capable, organised and keen to take increasing ownership as you get to know the firm.
There will also inevitably be things that don't sit neatly within a job description. We're a growing business and we want someone who enjoys getting involved, solving problems and helping to make things work better.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience in an administrative, operations or practice management role, ideally within a law firm or other professional services environment
- Is exceptionally organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Has strong attention to detail
- Is comfortable working with numbers, reporting and financial processes
- Is confident following up with people and doesn't mind chasing something more than once when it needs to be done
- Communicates clearly and professionally with both colleagues and clients
- Has sound judgement about what they can deal with themselves and what needs to be escalated
- Is comfortable using technology and learning new systems
- Takes ownership and follows things through to completion
- Is proactive and naturally looks for ways to make processes work better
- Enjoys working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change
- Wants to be part of an ambitious, growing business rather than simply maintaining the status quo
Experience of law firm billing, credit control, AML or compliance would be particularly useful.
Experience using Xero, Clockify, Pipedrive or similar systems would also be advantageous, but isn't essential.
The Kind of Role This Can Become
We're looking for someone who wants more than simply a list of administrative tasks to work through.
Jamieson Law is growing quickly, and the operational side of the firm will grow with it.
That means there is genuine scope for the right person to take on more responsibility over time, own more of the firm's operational processes and help shape how we work as we scale.
You would be joining us at a particularly interesting stage: we're moving beyond the early stages of the business, but we're still small and agile enough that good people can have a real influence on what we build next.
We don't know exactly what this role will look like in three years – because we don't know exactly what the firm will look like in three years. But for someone ambitious, capable and interested in developing their career alongside a growing business, we think that's one of the most exciting things about it.
What We Offer
- Fully remote working
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Pension
- Bonus scheme
- Ongoing training and professional development
- A genuinely supportive, collaborative team
- Real autonomy and responsibility
- The opportunity to help shape the operational side of a fast-growing law firm
- Genuine scope for the role to develop as the firm continues to grow
- We're more than just a remote team. Although we work remotely, we make a real effort to stay connected. We regularly get together for team days, meals and UK and overseas trips, because building great relationships with each other is just as important as building them with our clients
- Salary in the range of £35,000-42,000, depending on experience
