This job description is for a PNC (Playback Numerical Control) Spinning Machine Operator, a role that combines traditional metal forming craftsmanship with advanced automation. In this position, the operator will be trained to use industrial equipment, such as Leifeld PNC machines, to transform metal discs into round, hollow shapes like cones, hemispheres, and dished ends.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented PNC Spinning Machine Operator to join our production team. You will be responsible for assisting with the setup and operation of specialized spinning machines to manufacture high-precision metal components. While prior experience in metal spinning is an advantage, we will provide comprehensive training on operating Leifeld or similar PNC machines, focusing on recording manual movements (playback) and executing automated production runs.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Assist in setting up and operating PNC spinning machines to form metal blanks over mandrels according to engineering specifications.
- Playback Programming: Utilize PNC technology to record initial manual spinning movements for automated repetition in batch manufacturing.
- Material Handling: Load and secure metal discs (blanks) into the machine using pressure pads, and remove finished components after forming.
- Quality Inspection: Use precision dimensional measuring tools like calipers and verniers to verify that finished parts meet dimensional tolerances and visual standards.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and lubrication to ensure optimal performance.
- Reading Technical Drawings: Interpret technical drawings and job specifications to determine correct machine settings and tooling requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical: A basic understanding of CNC/PNC operations is not essential but is preferable.
- Physical: The ability to stand for long shift periods and lift heavy objects (up to 25kg) is required.
- Aptitude: Strong attention to detail, mechanical reasoning, and a willingness to learn how to use multiple types of machinery.
