Overview
The Shireburn Arms is seeking a dynamic and experienced Duty Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure exceptional guest experiences. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of hospitality, supervising staff, and managing guest relations. Fluency in multiple languages or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to enhance communication with diverse clientele. Previous hotel experience, human resources knowledge, and supervisory experience are advantageous. The Duty Manager will be responsible for fostering a welcoming environment, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting the team in delivering outstanding service.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the hotel, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities
- Supervise and support staff to ensure high standards of guest service and hospitality
- Manage guest enquiries, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and courtesy
- Coordinate with departments such as housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance to ensure smooth operations
- Assist in training and mentoring team members to uphold service excellence
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies
- Handle administrative tasks including rostering, reporting, and human resources functions
- Promote a positive working environment that encourages teamwork and professional development
- Support marketing initiatives and local community engagement efforts
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience within the hospitality industry, ideally in hotels or similar establishments
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams
- Excellent guest service skills with a focus on creating memorable experiences
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to communicate effectively with international guests
- Experience in human resources management, including training, recruitment, and staff development
- Knowledge of hotel operations, including front desk management, reservations systems, and hospitality standards
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Previous experience in hospitality management roles is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is valued
