About Shaftesbury Statement

Shaftesbury is a disability charity offering care, education, vocational and rehab services. The charity also provides residential care, nursing, and supported living. In addition to Shaftesbury Nash College, Shaftesbury operates Shaftesbury Millie College, an FE college for students aged 16-25, and Shaftesbury Victoria School for students aged 3-19. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), as well as physical and/or intellectual disabilities, and some have profound and complex learning needs.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional part-time Admin Team Leader to jointly lead and shape the journey of young people as they move into and beyond Shaftesbury Nash College.

This is a rare opportunity to take on a strategic role, working collaboratively with our existing Transition Manager, while benefiting from the flexibility of part-time hours.

As one of our Team Leaders, you will lead the coordination of transition pathways for students with additional needs from first enquiry through to their next destination.

You will jointly oversee our small Transition team and work closely with families, local authorities, schools, and external professionals to ensure every learner has a person-centred, high-quality transition into the college and to their next destinations.

This is a visible, outward-facing role where you will also represent the college, build partnerships, and champion inclusive opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop transition programmes from entry through to progression beyond college

Manage consultations, assessments, and student onboarding processes

Work closely with families, local authorities, and external agencies to support student pathways

Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews, and person-centred planning

Manage and develop a dedicated transition team

Lead on events, open days, and stakeholder engagement

Contribute to reporting, planning, and strategic development of services

Maintain accurate records and up to date student data

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge and understanding of EHCPs and SEN processes and law

Knowledge and understanding of specialist FE Department of Education (formally ESFA funding) and Local Authority funding

Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disabilities

Confident, compassionate professional who combines management ability with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs

Ability to work independently while also leading and managing a small team

Experience working with young people with disabilities and/or additional needs

Strong knowledge of transition planning and EHCP processes

Proven ability to lead teams and manage partnerships

Excellent organisation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Demonstrate proficiency using IT systems to maintain student data, adhering to GDPR regulations

A commitment to person-centred practice and inclusive education
