Overall Purpose
Bring Windsor’s stories to life on land and water as a Tour Guide with our Windsor Duck Operations team. You will be at the heart of a truly unique sightseeing experience, delivering lively, accurate and inclusive commentary as guests explore Windsor, Eton, the River Thames and iconic local landmarks. Working alongside our Drivers, Captains and Operations team, you will create memorable moments for guests of all ages while helping every tour run safely, smoothly and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver entertaining, informative and accurate live commentary on the road and river sections of each Windsor Duck tour.
- Adapt the commentary and delivery style for families, schools, private groups and guests with different interests or access needs.
- Assist with guest flow, ticket or voucher sales and checks, private hires, special events and other reasonable operational duties when required.
- Welcome guests, support orderly boarding and disembarkation, answer questions and provide clear tour and local visitor information.
- Work closely with the Driver, Captain and Operations team, follow all instructions and procedures, and communicate promptly about delays, hazards or guest concerns.
- Give clear safety information, remain alert throughout the tour and report incidents, near misses, defects or safeguarding concerns immediately.
- Maintain current knowledge of Windsor, Eton, the River Thames, local history, landmarks, routes, service changes and approved tour content.
- Sign in on time, arrive fully prepared, check required guide equipment and support smooth, punctual departures.
- Represent Big Duck Tours professionally and provide consistently welcoming, respectful and inclusive customer service.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Ability to deliver clear, accurate and engaging spoken commentary in English and communicate safety information effectively to guests.
- Confidence speaking to groups and delivering information in an engaging way.
- Ability to learn and consistently deliver approved tour content and safety information.
- Reliable timekeeping and availability to work a varied rota, including weekends, bank holidays and peak visitor periods.
- Successful completion of company training and ongoing assessments including Water Safety Training
Desirable
- Previous experience in tour guiding, attractions, hospitality, customer service, public speaking or performance.
- Knowledge of Windsor, Eton, the River Thames or local history; additional languages are an advantage.
