Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation. This position requires a strong foundation in culinary techniques, food safety practices, and effective leadership skills to help guide and supervise kitchen staff. Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation activities.
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes while adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene practices within the kitchen.
- Help manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
- Train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, equipment use, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cook or Sous Chef in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary arts, and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and supervise a team effectively.
- A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not essential.
