Job Overview
The Training Centre Manager is responsible for the effective leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the training Centre. The postholder will ensure that apprenticeship and training programmes are delivered to a high standard, learners are supported to achieve, their employers receive an excellent service, and the centre remains compliant with Ofsted, ESFA, awarding organisation, safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, equality, health and safety, and internal quality requirements.
The role combines strategic oversight with operational management and requires strong leadership, quality assurance, staff management, learner support, employer engagement, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
The postholder will also hold delegated responsibility for the effective management of the Qualification and Assessment Centre, including awarding organisation compliance, assessment and Internal Quality Assurance arrangements, standardisation, qualification development, and related centre management duties. The Training Centre Manager will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the training centre.
The postholder will also act as Quality Nominee for Ofsted, coordinating inspection readiness, communication, evidence gathering, and quality improvement activity relating to Ofsted requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear and effective leadership across the training centre.
- Ensure apprenticeship programmes are planned, delivered, monitored, and reviewed effectively.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, assessment, and learner support.
- Responsible for the effective management, compliance, quality assurance, and development of the Qualification and Assessment Centre, incorporating the relevant responsibilities of the Lead IV/Assessor and Centre Manager/Internal Quality Assurance Coordinator roles.
- Support compliance with all relevant funding, legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure learner safety, welfare, and wellbeing.
- Manage, support, and develop training centre staff.
- Ensure learners receive a positive, supportive, and effective learning experience.
- Support strong employer relationships and ensure employers are active partners in apprenticeship delivery.
- Ensure the training centre runs efficiently and records are accurate.
- Use data to monitor performance and inform decision-making.
Skills
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present confidently to diverse audiences.
- Experience mentoring trainers or staff members to develop their skills further.
- Knowledge and experience in the health & social sector.
Qualification
- Assessor qualification advantageous
- Internal quality assurance qualification required
- Health & Social care Diploma up to level 5 would be desirable
