Business Development Executive
Location: Scotland – hybrid working, with occasional UK and European travel
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time
Join QUICKBLOCK
QUICKBLOCK is an ambitious Scottish company creating innovative products for defence, security and humanitarian organisations around the world.
We have bold plans for international growth and are looking for a driven Business Development Executive who wants to help build something - not simply inherit an established way of working.
This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial thinker who spots opportunities, takes ownership and turns ideas into action. You will work closely with our senior Business Develooment team, helping to develop new markets, strengthen customer and partner relationships and build the systems that will support our next stage of growth.
You do not need to arrive with every answer. We are looking for someone with energy, sound commercial instincts and the ambition to grow alongside the company.
The Opportunity
You will play a hands-on role across the business development process - from identifying prospective customers and supporting international partners to preparing proposals and keeping opportunities moving through the pipeline.
No two days will be the same. You might be researching a new European market, helping prepare a proposal for a major defence customer, coordinating an international trade show or identifying a better way to manage our commercial activity.
This role offers both responsibility and freedom. We will give you support and mentoring, but we will also expect you to use your initiative, challenge ideas constructively and take ownership of results.
As QUICKBLOCK grows, we want this role to grow with it, giving the right person the opportunity to assume greater commercial responsibility and develop into a future business development leader.
What You’ll Do
- Identify and research new customers, partners, markets and commercial opportunities.
- Support prospecting and outreach activity across the UK and Europe.
- Build trusted relationships with customers, agents, distributors and industry partners.
- Take ownership of follow-ups and help progress opportunities from initial conversation to successful delivery.
- Coordinate business development activity through our CRM and continually look for ways to improve our sales processes.
- Maintain accurate pipeline information and support commercial reporting and forecasting.
- Prepare persuasive quotes, proposals, presentations, briefings and commercial reports.
- Support the Head of Business Development and European Business Development Lead across multiple international markets.
- Act as a confident and dependable point of contact when senior colleagues are travelling.
- Coordinate customer meetings, demonstrations, trade shows and industry events.
- Contribute ideas to our market-entry plans and wider commercial strategy.
- Take on new projects and responsibilities as the business evolves.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is ambitious, commercially curious and motivated by the chance to make a visible difference.
You are likely to:
- Take initiative and act without waiting to be given every step.
- Spot opportunities, solve problems and find practical ways to move things forward.
- Be comfortable working in a growing company where priorities can develop quickly.
- Combine entrepreneurial thinking with the discipline to follow through on details.
- Communicate confidently and build rapport with a wide range of people.
- Be organised, dependable and capable of managing several priorities.
- Respond well to responsibility, feedback and ambitious targets.
- Want to build a career - not simply find your next job.
Ideally, you will bring around three years’ experience in business development, sales, customer success, commercial coordination or a similar role. Experience using a CRM or other sales tools would be helpful.
Experience is important, but attitude and potential matter just as much. If you believe you can make a strong contribution without meeting every requirement, we would still like to hear from you.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success means more than completing tasks. You will help create commercial momentum: uncovering opportunities, improving how we work, giving customers and partners an excellent experience and ensuring promising conversations lead to action.
You will be someone the team can rely on to take ownership, maintain pace and finish what you start.
Why Join QUICKBLOCK?
- Help shape the growth of an ambitious Scottish company expanding internationally.
- Make a meaningful contribution from your first day.
- Work directly with senior leaders and gain broad commercial exposure.
- Develop relationships with customers and partners across the UK and Europe.
- Receive mentoring and genuine opportunities for career progression.
- Bring forward your own ideas and have the freedom to put strong ideas into practice.
- Work within a close, supportive team where individual contributions are visible and valued.
- Enjoy hybrid working and flexibility where business needs allow.
Our Culture
At QUICKBLOCK, we value people who think boldly, act with purpose and take pride in delivering excellent work. We trust people with responsibility, encourage constructive challenge and support one another when the pressure is on.
We work hard, learn quickly and celebrate success together. You will be encouraged to bring ideas, test better ways of working and grow beyond the original boundaries of your role.
If you are excited by ownership, opportunity and the chance to build your career while helping to build a company, we would love to hear from you.
Diversity and Inclusion
QUICKBLOCK is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels they belong. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives because diverse teams build stronger businesses.
If you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, we will be happy to support you.
