Job Title: Electrical Fitter (Rolling Stock) - Contract

Duration: 6-7 Month Contract
We are currently recruiting for 2 Electrical Fitters to join a leading client within the Rail Rolling Stock industry, supporting a major upgrade programme on the Edinburgh Tram network. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile project, contributing to the modernisation of one of the UKs most successful tram fleets.
Based at Gogar Depot, Edinburgh, you will play a key role in the rollout of upgraded LED interior lighting project.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical modifications to existing tram lighting systems. The project involves removing existing lighting units, carrying out wiring modifications and installing upgraded LED-compatible fittings.
The programme is expected to run for approximately 30 weeks (6-7 months), with a target of completing one tram per week, providing a stable and long-term contract opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out electrical modifications to tram interior lighting systems.
Remove and reinstall lighting units safely and efficiently.
Modify existing wiring arrangements to accommodate upgraded LED lighting.
Read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
Complete all work in accordance with engineering standards, technical instructions and safety procedures.
Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and workmanship.
Accurately complete maintenance and modification documentation.
Work collaboratively with depot and project teams to meet programme deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience carrying out electrical installation, modification or maintenance work.
Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Desirable
Previous Rolling Stock, Rail, Tram or Transportation industry experience.
Ex-Forces electrical engineering background.
Experience carrying out electrical modification programmes or retrofit projects.
Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems and wiring modifications.
Candidates from a range of engineering sectors will be considered, including rail, rolling stock, defence, military, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and industrial environments.
