We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Director to lead one of the Trust’s most high-profile and transformative capital developments, the £60 million rebuild of our Emergency Department (ED) at St Helier. To deliver this opportunity of building a bespoke fit for purpose ED, the project requires a complex, and full decant of our current emergency floor, and because this development is critical to our long-term clinical strategy and urgent care performance, the project must move at significant pace which meets the expectations of NHSE.
You will have full operational accountability for the project lifecycle and a proven track record for delivery of complex and high value transformational projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity for an internal candidate to leave a lasting legacy on our Trust’s footprint.
For an informal and confidential discussion about this post, please contact Alex Shaw, Managing Director (Interim) via Debra Beer [email protected].
The Project Director will lead the strategic planning, development and delivery of a major capital programme centred on the redevelopment of the Trust’s Emergency Department within a busy acute hospital environment. The initial programme is estimated at £60m and will be delivered via the NHS ProCure23 (P23) framework, with the expectation that additional capital schemes will be incorporated into the programme portfolio over time.
The postholder will provide overall leadership, governance and delivery assurance for the programme from Strategic Outline Case through to Full Business Case approval by HM Treasury and subsequent construction and commissioning.
The role will ensure the programme is delivered safely, to time and within approved budgets, while maintaining uninterrupted emergency and clinical services.
St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
At gesh we are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements. Applicants are encouraged to discuss any flexibility they may need during the recruitment process.
