Korn Ferry is partnering with a highly specialised international manufacturing organisation operating within a strategically important global supply chain. As part of this growth journey, we are seeking a Commercial Director to join the senior leadership team and take ownership of the organisation's commercial strategy, supplier partnerships, customer relationships, and overall commercial performance.
The Role
The Commercial Director will be responsible for the full commercial function, balancing both strategic procurement and commercial sales activities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in securing key raw materials, managing supplier and customer relationships, driving revenue growth, and supporting the continued expansion of the business.
The role will lead a small commercial team while working closely with operations, technical, finance, legal, and supply chain stakeholders across the wider group.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the overall commercial strategy to support business growth and profitability.
- Lead procurement activities, securing reliable and cost-effective supply agreements with key global suppliers.
- Drive sales growth across existing and new customer accounts in international markets.
- Own commercial negotiations, including long-term supply, pricing, and customer contracts.
- Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain risks to inform strategic decisions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to align demand planning and production capacity.
- Develop commercial reporting, forecasting, KPIs, and board-level business reviews.
- Lead, coach, and develop the commercial team to build capability and performance.
- Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives as a key member of the leadership team.
Skills & Experience Required
- Significant commercial leadership experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, metals, chemicals, or related sectors.
- Proven track record managing both procurement/supply chain and sales/commercial activities.
- Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements with customers and suppliers.
- Strong commercial acumen with responsibility for revenue, margin, and business performance.
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering growth strategies in B2B markets.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive level.
- Excellent analytical, forecasting, and commercial planning capabilities.
- Advanced presentation and communication skills with experience engaging board-level stakeholders.
- Degree educated, with additional business or commercial qualifications is advantageous.
